Open to all composers. Works for (1) choral setting, either a cappella or accompanied by piano, duration max 6 mins. The SATB chorus may be divided into as many as eight parts, SSAATTBB. (2) solo song (bass-baritone) settings, written for a vocal range of low E to high G, duration max 6 mins.

The settings of both categories must reflect an understanding of the life and work of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and help convey the meaning of the chosen text.
Prizes for each category: 1st $300 and performance; 2nd US $50 and performance. Entry fees: US $15.
